At least they admit people from different groups. Can’t say the same for some Elite Sinhala Buddhist only schools like Ananda and Nalanda college…. Or those Muslim only schools. Segregation and Racism is systemic in Sri Lanka, it’s woven into many aspects of society that it’s considered normal now.

Maybe before digging into the minorities, maybe the “Maha Jathiya” can start by admitting non-Buddhists to their elite schools - then they can have a say on what other schools choose to do.

I'm not sure is there are any scholarship for masters in SL , but i don't think it is costly either ... &amp; i don't think there are full time master degrees in SL specially for EE (apart from research based one which comes as a job with stipend) so for a  part time one it is not that hard to pay as installments if you are doing a job .

For the better positions , i don't think there is a different between having Bsc or Msc when you are entering into the industry in SL , There are several reasons that people do MSc in SL,  
  
one is that it will pay some role specially in gov sector if your progressing in the ladder , since there are requirement in gov sector for salary increment &amp; to be considered into certain positions.   
  
Another one is if you are aiming for top position like CEO , director , GM . in that case it will play some role.  
also   
if people believe that there BSc is not recognized enough, they are doing a MSc in recognized university so they can present it as their primary qualification rather than the BSc .  


Then there are some people doing it when they want to specialized on something , like Elec installations etc.  
Also there are some people doing it when they want to change their career .   
  
For the entry level , i don't see much different at least in SL.  
  
So it depends on why you need to do it ...

Hi there, NUS gives scholarships for impressive SL A/L results. You might even be able to secure a full scholarship if you have some great extra curriculars to support your application. However, I think applications for 2021 have closed so you will have to apply for an intake next year. Check out their website for specifics.

I was in a similar situation almost 7 years ago. I had similar results to you and no island ranks. But I got a scholarship, and I can say it was one of the best decisions I've made. And congratulations! your hard work has paid off, and now it's time to knock on some doors and see what you can do.

## Considerations

Couple of things to consider, so that'll help you narrow down your search and potentially help you figure out what you wanna do.

1. Do you have a specific region in mind? Say the US, Europe or Asia? Depending on where you go, it'll be easier for you to find a job, or settle down if you wish to. For example, if you go to US, you get a couple of years to work after graduation, and that could potentially lead you to a longer stay. Other countries also have their own system in place if you do plan on working or settling down.
2. Do you have a specific field of study that you would like to pursue? Have some balance between your passion and what you'd like to pursue. Why? Having a degree in a marketable field will help you immensely you are looking to penetrate a foreign job market.

Even if you don't wanna settle down or work abroad, still consider the above.

## Resources

Since that's out of the way, let's look at some resources that'll help you. Mind you, this is not a comprehensive list, but will help you a tad bit.

1. Ministry of Higher Education [Link](https://mohe.gov.lk/index.php?option=com_content&amp;view=article&amp;id=119&amp;Itemid=213&amp;lang=en) Great place to start because you've done local ALs and they'll prioritize you. The scholarships here are posted all throughout the year from all around the world. Most of the scholarships here will give you free tuition and a monthly stipend. This is the path I took.
2. German Scholarships [Link](https://www.daad.de/de/) You'll have to apply yourself with the listings here.
3. Korean Government Scholarship Programmer KGSP [Link](https://www.studyinkorea.go.kr/en/sub/gks/allnew_invite.do) 5 years total with 1 year of intensive Korean. After that you'll be placed into one of world's top 100 universities (Seoul National University, Yonsei etc)
4. Japanese Government Scholarships [Link](https://www.studyinjapan.go.jp/en/smap-stopj-applications-undergraduate.html) Same as #3 but you'll learn Japanese instead. Duh!
5. Fullbright Scholarships for the US [Link](http://www.fulbrightsrilanka.com/) The website has changed since I last visited. But dig around.
6. Commonwealth Scholarships.
 This usually listed in #1. But do search around since they accept applications all year round. Primarily for UK but you definitely can find openings for Australia, New Zealand as well.

For #2, #3 and #4, yes you'll have to learn the local language if you are not in a native English speaking country. But embrace it, take it as a challenge, and add another language to the ones that you already speak.

## Good to Know

1. Still apply for UGC applications for local unis when the time comes. If you qualify for a foreign scholarship, MoHE will notify UGC, opening up your spot to the next in line.
2. Start writing, or better yet, start drafting a Statement of Purpose. Almost all universities require you to submit one as part of the application process. It'll save you time if you start now. Doesn't have to be perfect in one go. Keep working on it.

It is hard to find mate. Even the 50% scholarship is very hard to afford in terms of Sri lankan currency. My advice is to use the go to your bachelor's in sri lanka then apply for masters or PhD in abroad. That way you can save so much money. Beleive me college and cost of living is so expensive. You can't work with student visa so it will be hard to afford.

You should try New Zealand / Canada.  My cousin wrote last year and his results were 3A's as well ( 2.2 z )
He got a scholarship in a Canadian uni. 
By the way if you are lucky you may get full scholarship as well . In my batch a classmate of mine got 2A1B and still managed a full schol to japan.  So it's not limited to the island ranks only

One of my distant cousins is a lecturer in Oxford. She did microbiology in UOC and I’m pretty sure she was the valedictorian. She also won a presidential award or something back in SL. Two of my cousins went to Stanford both of them majored in Computer Science. They were raised in US tho.
